Why can’t I use a men’s razor?

Men’s razors are typically designed to handle coarser facial hair, while women’s razors are often designed for finer body hair. Women may find that men’s razors are too harsh or aggressive for their skin, leading to irritation or nicks.

Lady Van Der Hagen was designed to shave larger surface areas and more curved areas of the body compared to men. Lady Van Der Hagen’s ergonometric and multiple blade design was designed to better accommodate these contours and provide a smoother shave.

Do I need a different razor for the different areas of my body?

It’s not necessarily required to use different razors for different parts of the body, but many people find that using razors designed specifically for different areas can lead to a more comfortable and effective shaving experience.

Razors designed for different body parts may have different blade configurations to suit the texture and density of hair in those areas. For instance, a razor for facial hair might have fewer blades to provide more precision, while a razor for legs might have multiple blades to cover larger surface areas more efficiently. Razors designed for specific areas often include special features tailored to the needs of those areas, such as moisturizing strips or built-in guards to minimize irritation and nicks.

How often should I change my razor blades?

As a general guideline, many razor manufacturers recommend changing the blade cartridge every 5 to 10 shaves.

Here are some signs that it might be time to change the blade cartridge:

Dullness: If you notice that the blades are no longer cutting as smoothly as they used to, or if you feel tug or pull during shaving, it’s likely time to change the blade.

Irritation or Redness: If you experience increased irritation, redness, or razor burn after shaving, it could be a sign that the blade is becoming dull and less effective.

Rust or Corrosion: Inspect the blades regularly for any signs of rust or corrosion. If you notice any, it’s important to replace the blade cartridge immediately to prevent skin irritation or infection.

Clogged Blades: If hair, shaving cream, or other debris become trapped between the blades and are difficult to rinse out, it may be a sign that the blades are becoming dull and less effective.

Tips to make your razor blades last longer:

After each use, rinse your razor blades thoroughly under running water to remove any hair, shaving cream, and debris that may have accumulated between the blades. This helps prevent clogging and ensures a smoother shave.

After rinsing, shake off any excess water from the razor and allow it to air dry completely. Storing a wet razor in a damp environment can promote rust and corrosion, leading to dull blades. Consider storing your razor in a dry area or using a razor stand to allow proper airflow.

Avoid applying too much pressure while shaving, as this can cause the blades to dull more quickly. Let the weight of the razor do the work and allow the blades to glide gently over your skin.

Regularly clean your razor blades with rubbing alcohol or a specialized razor cleaning solution to remove any buildup of oils, soap scum, or minerals from hard water. This can help prevent corrosion and keep the blades sharp.

Store your razor in a dry, clean area away from moisture and humidity when not in use. Avoid leaving it in the shower or bathroom where it may be exposed to steam and water, which can accelerate blade dulling and corrosion.

Which shave cream is the best for my sensitive skin?

While both our scented and unscented have minimal irritation risks for those with sensitive skin, we do recommend our unscented shave cream for those who are prone to getting irritated skin after shaving.

My skin gets irritated after shaving, what should I do? I suggest we remove this question Kepe FAQ more product specific (this can be good content as Blog for the website on Tips/trick to avoid irritation)

If your skin gets irritated after shaving, there are several steps you can take to help alleviate the irritation and improve your shaving experience:

  1. Prep Your Skin: Properly prepare your skin before shaving by washing the area with warm water and a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. Consider exfoliating the skin gently to help prevent ingrown hairs.
  1. Use a Sharp Razor: Ensure you’re using a sharp, clean razor blade. Dull blades can tug on the skin and cause irritation.
  1. Shave with the Grain: Shave in the direction of hair growth (with the grain) to minimize irritation and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs. Avoid going over the same area repeatedly, as this can increase irritation.
  1. Use Shaving Cream or Gel: Apply a quality shaving cream or gel to the skin before shaving to provide lubrication and protect against irritation. Look for products specifically formulated for sensitive skin, free of alcohol and fragrances which can exacerbate irritation.
  1. Avoid Harsh Ingredients: Choose shaving products that are gentle on the skin and free of harsh chemicals, fragrances, or alcohol, which can strip the skin of its natural oils and cause irritation.
  1. Aftercare: After shaving, rinse the skin with cool water to soothe and close the pores. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel and apply a gentle, alcohol-free moisturizer or aftershave balm to hydrate and soothe the skin.
